The Problem

Hinge’s Standouts feature puts highly desirable profiles behind a paywall. To engage, users must send a paid Rose, a bold gesture many find uncomfortable, awkward, or overly forward.

Women often described the rose as “too intense” or “creepy”Men felt it was “awkward” and not worth paying forMany users skipped Standouts altogether, despite finding the profiles appealing
